First Alumni BBQ held in Urbana
Bachelor of Arts in General Studies degree alumni from the Champaign, Urbana and Danville areas gathered at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana on Oct. 4 for the School of Continuing Education's first-ever Alumni BBQ, which was catered by Hickory River Smokehouse.
Approximately 40 people attended to reconnect with former BGS classmates and celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni community. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future.

Aging with Grace mini-conference a success
About 200 people attended the Aging with Grace mini-conference, which featured workshops on aging gracefully through nutrition, lifelong learning and spirituality. Dr. David Snowdon, famous for his longitudinal "nun study" on Alzheimer’s, was the keynote speaker. A book signing and reception followed.
The Oct. 23 event was co-sponsored by the EIU School of Family and Consumer Sciences' Master of Arts in Gerontology Program and the School of Continuing Education's Academy of Lifetime Learning. Additional support was provided by each of EIU's academic colleges, as well as the Graduate School and Booth Library. Gowin Parc, a local care center for residents with Alzheimer's, and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center also provided support

Off-Campus Cohort Appreciation Day held
The School of Continuing Education hosted an Off-Campus Cohort Appreciation Day on campus on Oct. 1 to thank all of the off-campus offices and Regional Offices of Education that we work with throughout the state. In addition to meetings, the day included a tour of the Doudna Fine Arts Center and a luncheon greeting from EIU President Bill Perry.
